Our story

Revenir was established to eliminate financial inefficiency and bring innovative technology to the financial sector. Our Founder Shawn Du, a Canadian citizen, conceived of the idea for Revenir’s VAT reclaim product, whilst trying to navigate through the minefield of VAT reclaims at the airport.

Fed up with queuing at customs, all to pay 70% of the reclaim to a broker, he decided there had to be a better way. The company began as Refund Giant, a tax refund agent which Shawn then developed into a travel-card and application.

At Imperial College London this vision for Revenir was honed as a unique API service which could automate the entire VAT reclaim process for any card provider.

Revenir has since flourished through several accelerators, beginning with the Y Combinator incubator which supported a seed round in 2022 , raising £2.5 million. Since then the team has expanded building partnerships through Accenture’s Fintech Innovation Lab, onboarding new clients whilst developing the core VAT reclaim offering.

In the future, Revenir believe VAT travel reclaim through the banking application will become a consumer expectation.

Our Mission

We want to revolutionise VAT reclaims by offering a solution which leverages customer data in a positive way. By securely utilising artificial intelligence and machine learning to streamline and improve the processes Revenir is able to take out the hassle and pain points out of VAT reclaims.

Our fintech solution links banks to tax authorities allowing for integrated and streamlined VAT reclaims. No more hassle and no more manual forms.

By simplifying and by increasing the visibility and accessibility to VAT reclaims, we also aim to democratise VAT reclaims for travellers, making it accessible to travellers with all spending powers.
