Sustainability
The financial services industry and the wider technology sector has not always had the best reputation when it comes to sustainability. Here at Revenir, we hope to change that. We are conscious of our impact, from our data processing through to our office maintenance and we are fully committed to reducing our environmental impact as we grow.
We understand that finance and technology must work to improve, not destroy our planet and Revenir are committed to supporting the transition to net zero by 2050 through clean, considered digitisation that reduces waste and preserves our environment. We are still in the early stages of this journey and are constantly learning but we are actively exploring partnerships with any organisation that shares our values and helps us reduce our environmental impact.
Low energy data centers
Our solution and all of our data is hosted locally in London in data centers that are 5x more energy efficient than the average European data center. Our provider is currently working towards 100% renewable energy and in 2022, 90% of the electricity consumed by their data centers came from renewable sources. To support the development and construction of new renewable energy, our infrastructure provider procures renewable energy beyond the existing grid mix.
A paperless financial future
At Revenir, we leverage advanced technologies including machine learning, optical recognition, and proprietary algorithms to remove inefficiencies from the VAT reclaim process. This not only improves the customer journey but reduces avoidable and unnecessary paper waste by removing the need for a vast amount of paper forms in the VAT reclaim process, as everything happens straight from the banking app. Integrated financial solutions, like ours, can play a significant role in supporting the transition to a more sustainable future.
Digital receipts
Revenir also fully support the transition to a digital receipt eco-system. In the UK alone 11 billion paper receipts are issued per annum, with the majority of these ending up in landfill. This comes with a significant environmental cost. Most receipts cannot be recycled and use harmful chemicals such as BPA. A persistent chemical that is both harmful to people and the environment. Receipt printing in the retail is no longer a requirement or necessity and across the EU and systematic printing of receipts is already prohibited in France and other EU countries are expected to follow suit.
Website Sustainability
Our website is designed to limit energy usage and carbon emissions.
Here are some of the ways we’ve reduced the carbon intensity of this site:
- We opted for a dark colour theme to reduce power consumption on OLED displays.
- We ensure highly efficient server-side operations and cache server responses.
- Images on the site are automatically resized and formatted on-the-fly to reduce their weight.
- Reducing the number of fonts and weights in the design.
- All assets are efficiently compressed and cached where possible.
- Scripts and assets only load where they are required and reduce the number of 3rd-party assets included in the project.
